Elections to local self-government bodies are scheduled to be held in Armenia on Sunday, June 8. In 59 communities, people will elect community heads and members of the Council of Elders. 66 candidates have been registered to run in the Sunday vote in 40 communities. In 17 communities, candidates have no contenders and in 20 communities there are two candidates. “It does not matter how many candidates have registered – one two or more. Electoral processes should take place in accordance with the law,” CEC Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan told A1+. He says they have not received complaints from candidates to this date. The election campaign was also held in compliance with the law. About 126 observers, including 8 local NGOs, will monitor the Sunday elections.
