In its Monday sitting, the Ethics Committee of the Armenian National Assembly that lawmaker Arakel Movsisyan (a.k.a. Shmice) had violated the norms of parliamentary conduct by insulting journalists Grisha Balasanyan, Anna Yeghiazaryan, Sargis Khandanyan and Hakob Karapetyan.
On December 23, the journalists staged a silent protest action at the National Assembly against the ratification of a controversial gas deal with Russia. During the action, Movsisyan insulted the journalists using an obscene word.
After the incident, the four journalists asked the Ethics Committee to assess the conduct of the MP.
