About 30 bachelor and master students of RA universities take part in the courses, during which military specialists and politicians teach them skills about army relations, military service, officers’ and soldiers’ obligations and responsibilities. “RA armed forces- as country’s security main guarantee” project is implemented, which is carried out by “Expert” military investigations center NGO within the frames of AYF as RA President’s partner organization grant competition. The aim of the program is to increase public awareness and confidence level to Armenian national army through strengthening army- society ties. Young people have already head lectures on “Armenian- Azerbaijani military relations issue on NKR border”, “RA national interests’ issue and concepts” topics. RA DA speaker Artsrun Hovhannisyan read a lecture on the topic “RA Armed forces” and noted, “Today’s army is not that of three or ten years ago. The progress is great. Our aim is to pay more attention to education system. Today our main objective is a system of values and upbringing.” Speaking about the problems of RA education system, Alen Ghevondyan noted that military courses in schools give only theoretical knowledge to the youth. Then he expressed his concern on the issue that there aren’t military chairs in universities. Then he noted, “MOE has made legislative changes in its legislative acts, as a result of which all young people entering universities are conscript, which is an important change. But it must be noted that future soldier must realize what to expect from the mandatory military service and must be ready to it. Boys must understand what the army is, what a weapon is and what homeland defense is.” Theoretical 10 courses will be followed by practice. Students will pass 5 days in a NKR unit, will get acquainted with unit’s routine, will pass fire readiness, courses on statutory relations, will get acquainted with military techniques.
