ARMENIAN KHACHKAR IN LITHUANIA

It is planned to place an Armenian khachkar in Kaunas, Lithuania, in the framework of the festive measures on the 1000th anniversary of Grigor Narekatsi, great Armenian poet and philosopher.

The idea to posit a khachkar in Lithuania emerged in 2002. The Armenian Union of Kaunas was the initiator. Only in 2004 it turned to be possible to get the financial support of Lithuania Education Ministry and Kaunas Municipality.

Robert Askaryan, one of the sculptures of Nagorno Karabakh is the author of the khachkar.
