Culture

”When I said “Your Grace, let’s meet at a certain time, he used to say: “I am seized that time”. Archbishop Mesrop Ashchyan was the man who managed to do the work of 48 hours within 24”, Ashot Melkoyan, head of History Institute of the National Academy of Sciences, said at the commemoration of the Archbishop.

Library named after Archbishop Mesrop Ashchyan was open today in the History Institute. His personal books are represented there. There are about 2000 books in Armenian, English, French and Spanish.

The latest book of Archbishop was devoted to the 1700th anniversary of Saint Echmiadzin. Memoirs of the European travelers about Armenia are introduced in the 900-paged volume. Before death Mesrop Ashchyan could see the first copies of the book published but didn’t manage to organize the presentation.
