On May 9, Bako Sahakyan and Serzh Sargsyan participated in solemn events organized in Stepanakert and Shushi within the frameworks of the Victory Day that marks the 69th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, 22st anniversary of the Shushi Liberation and the Day of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Defense Army.
In Stepanakert, the two leaders laid flowers to the monument commemorating martyrs perished in World War II and the Artsakh Liberation war.
On the same day, they visited Shushi where they laid flowers to the monument of Sparapet Vazgen Sargsyan.
Bako Sahakyan and Serzh Sargsyan visited an exhibition-fair opened in Shushi.
During the festive event held in Shushi, President Sahakyan handed the “Grigor Lousavorich” Order to Serzh Sargsyan for his exclusive services to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
NKR second President Arkady Ghukasyan, Primate of Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, Armenian National Assembly Speaker Galust Sahakyan, NKR National Assembly Speaker Ashot Ghulyan, Premier Ara Haroutunyan, officials from Armenia and NKR, guests from the Diaspora and abroad participated in the festive events.
