More pregnant women recruited by employees in 2013

In 2013, employers in Armenia recruited a large number of women who took a maternity leave in 1-2 months and received maternity allowance. There were also cases, when the wages of a female employee were sharply raised just before a maternity leave, resulting in the increase in maternity allowance, the studies of the Control Chamber have revealed. As a result, the state budget allocations for maternity leave benefits were AMD 1 927 335 900 more than it was planned. Also, there was a sharp rise in temporary disability benefits, with additional AMD 809 293 400 being spent from the state budget. For example, in 2011, "Agarak Copper and Molybdenum Combine" CJSC paid 951 employees AMD 17 000 000 as temporary disability benefits, while in 2013, 1015 employees received AMD 88 500 000 as temporary disability benefits, PastInfo News Agency reports.
