Opinion: Turkey will recognise the Armenian Genocide in case it feels danger to its statehood (video)

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s message to the Armenian people on the eve of the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide did not contain new information, says political analyst Haykazun Alvrtsyan.

“They [Turks] have always denied the Armenian Genocide and always for the same reasons, saying that other nations of the Ottoman Empire were also affected during World War I,” he says. They have a special program that brilliantly carry out through press, NGOs, nursery schools and schools; they say that it was Armenians who massacres Turks,” said Mr Alvrtsyan.

The expert says Turkey will recognise the Armenian Genocide only on condition that it feels the country’s statehood is threatened.
