EASTER DAY

Culture

Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates tomorrow the resurrection of Christ. The holiday is called Easter or, in Armenian, Zatik. Easter is one of the greatest Christian festivals.

After Jesus crucifixion his people took his body off the cross, where he has been crucified, and put it in a sepulchre cut in rock. The entrance to the sepulchre was closed with a huge stone. Tree days after the Christ burial, Maria Maddalena, Jack’s mother Mary and Solome who came to burn incense were surprised, as they sew the stone put aside and the grave was empty. Two angels came to the women and told them about Christ resurrection. The women conveyed the news about resurrection to apostles and after that they also sew Jesus.

Believers used to paint eggs’ shells and give the painted eggs as a present, especially to children.
