Civil activists Vardges Gaspari and Argishti Kivirian detained

The campaign in defense of Shahen Petrosyan, the son of the jailed opposition activist Shant Harutyunyan, continued in the vicinity of the Prosecutor General’s Office. Meantime, civil activists Vardges Gaspari and Argishti Kivirian were taken to a police department because they wanted to hold the rally outside the Prosecutor’s Office, while the police officers insisted that they go to the opposite pavement. Human rights activist Artur Sakunts says that this is a political persecution aimed at pressurizing Shant Harutyunyan. Charges against Shahen Harutyunyan were filed within the framework of a criminal case against his father Shant Harutyunyan, who was arrested in November 2013 during clashes with security forces in Yerevan.
