HISTORY GHOSTS AS EGOYAN SEES THEM

Culture

"My film is about living with ghosts" . Atom Egoyan comments upon his "Ararat" film this way. It is based upon the real events of the Armenian Genocide carried out by the Ottoman Empire in 20th century.

Today the Armenian producer from Canada held a press conference. Atom Egoyan and his wife, Arsine Khanjyan are happy to be in Armenia. They are also happy that "Ararat" is screened in the Homeland .

If a film placing the Turkish in a bad light is shot at any studio of the world, Turkey arranges protest actions and interferences to block the film screening. Turkey makes noise because of "Ararat" saying Egoyan's propaganda is against "slandered Turkish people" . The producer said on that: "I have always tried not to be involved in politics. But I'm frightened by what struck others' and my families so much is cast doubt on" .

Genocide is a complicated subject for a 42-year-old producer. His wife contributed much to the film to be shot.

Under the decision of Culture Minister and Commission for Art and Literature Armenian-wide "Vahagn" awards Atom Egoyan was awarded with "Vahagn" prize like actor Armen Jigarkhanyan, writer Zahrad, painter Jansem and Charles Aznavour.
