Armenia had two options when it was voting against the UN resolution that declares the Crimean referendum to secede from Ukraine invalid, says expert Tatul Hakobyan. “We could either abstain from voting or not participate but we decided to vote against the resolution,” he said. The expert does not think that Russia has exerted serious pressure on Armenia in the issue of Crimea. “I see no logic in Armenia’s position. Even Kazakhstan which is also a member of the Customs Union showed a more dignified stand and did not participate in the vote.” “No matter how Armenia explains its stance most of our diplomats are definitely ashamed of the vote,” he concluded.
