Getar turned into a garbage dump (video)
Elderly people living near the Getar, a small river flowing through the central parts of Yerevan, say once the river was known for its clear water and children swam in its waters. Today, stench has become an integral part of lives of local residents. Elderly people playing backgammon near the river also complained of the smell but said they cannot clear the area. The residents confess that the area around the river has turned into a landfill because of the lack of garbage cans in the neighbourhood.
