The situation remains tense in Aragatsotn region where residents of seven villages have blocked Yerevan-Aparan highway, demanding to halt the construction of a hydropower plant in the region. Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan has just arrived at the region allegedly to attend the problem. He headed to the construction site. He refrained from talking to journalists and said he had work to do. Before his arrival, members of Pre-parliament Initiative group felt bad in the crowd after the police began elbowing and pushing the protesters. The villagers say that the hydropower plant would cause a shortage of irrigation water and severely restrict water supplies to their orchards. They demand that the equipment be removed from the construction site.
