Angered villagers demand meeting with Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan

Residents from seven villages of Aragatsotn region blocked Yerevan-Aparan highway today, demanding that the technique be removed from the Aparan reservoir where a hydroelectric plant is being constructed. They also demand a meeting with Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

Police urge the angered villagers to open the way and continue negotiations but the protesters say they will not leave the area unless they talk to the premier.

A1+’s correspondent reports from the ground that the traffic is paralyzed on the highway. The regional governor and head of the local police are also there but they cannot negotiate with the group.

The situation remains out of control.
