Armenian government approves procedure for readmission of Armenian illegal immigrants
In its Wednesday sitting, the Armenian government approved the procedure readmission of Armenian illegal immigrants residing in EU member states. The government authorized the state agency on migration to study the applications, monitor the implementation of the agreement and coordinate all issues with an interagency working group led by the head of the State Migration Service. The readmission agreement sets out clear obligations and procedures for the authorities of both Armenia and the respective EU member state as to when and how to take back people who are irregularly residing on their territories. Also, Armenia is obliged to discuss the transit and readmission procedure for the third country nationals through the territory of Armenia and answer in the fixed time period – within 12 calendar days. The agreement is aimed at facilitating the effective management of irregular migration and strengthening cooperation between Armenian and EU on migration issues.
