Expert says there are gaps in criminal law (video)
Following the suicide of an 18-year-old girl, the daughter of life-termer Soghomon Kocharyan, the initiative group dealing with the issues of life-termers addressed a letter to Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan and other relevant bodies. In the letter, they suggest creating a committee to deal with issues of prisoners serving life sentences in Armenia, says Zaruhi Mradyan, a member of the initiative group. Edmon Marukyan, a member of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee of State Legal Affairs, says there are gaps in the law with regard to life-termers. “Persons sentenced to life do not have a chance of parole,” he stressed.
