• Ashotyan to Pashinyan: No student has been expelled from university for his political views (video)

During today’s question and answer session at the Armenian National Assembly, Nikol Pshinyan, an MP from the Armenian National Congress (HAK), reminded of an incident that occurred during the speech of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan when a group of students insulted journalists.
“Instead of punishing these young people, we learn that the Student Fund awarded the Student Council during an event attended by Serzh Sargsyan. Shortly after, we learn that the students of the Agrarian University got engaged in a sorting out,” Nikol Pashinyan said in parliament addressing his words to Education Minister Armen Ashotyan.
“What is going on in the educationa system? If you do not punish them, then people will do it,” said Pashinyan.
“The education system does not approve of excessive rhetoric. On the eve of March 1, the forces are competing to attract more adherents. I do not think that your questions will benefit your party in the pursuit of supporters,” said Armen Ashotyan.
The minister stressed that the education system is apolitical. “You should welcome the fact that no student has been expelled from university for his political views, which occurred to you in 1995.”
