Elections to the local self-government bodies are due in 53 communities in Armenia on March 9. In 40 communities, people will elect village heads. However, many residents will not go to the polls as in many communities the only candidate is the acting village head. This is the case in four communities in Ararat and Syunik marzes, Lori, Kotayk, Aragatsotn and Tavush. In Hovk village in Tavush Marz, the acting head of the community, Republican Yurik Yogunyan, will face Grigor Gevorgyan, a teacher at the local school and member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun.
