Acute respiratory infections have increased dramatically in Armenia in the last few weeks. Liana Torosyan, a senior expert of the epidemiology department at the Healthcare Ministry, did not refute the information although she said there is no need to panic. “There is not any outbreak of epidemic in the country,” she said. The specialist conditions the seasonal activation of influenza with sudden weather changes. Winter is still going strong outside but people began wearing light clothes. Patients, in their turn, do not stay at home to avoid contacts with their colleagues and friends. Moreover, they do not observe the general rules of hygiene and cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing.
