No changes have been observed in the criminal investigation in the case against Shant Harutyunyan, Chairman of the Tseghakron Party, since December 28. Talking to A1+, Harutyunyan’s lawyer Inessa Petrosyan said on December 28 a court in Yerevan decided to extend Harutyunyan’s detention for two months. At present, Shant Harutyunyan is at “Hospital of Convicts” penitentiary institution where he is undergoing treatment. Harutyunyan was detained on November 5 as he attempted to head to the Presidential Office together with a group of supporters to ‘blow up the building’ as he had earlier stated. He faces charges over using violence against a representative of the authorities (Article 316.2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia) Inessa Petrosyan says the investigator will visit her client in the coming days and most probably the investigation will resume after the visit.
