In the past, creative unions could solve many problems since they enjoyed the support of the state, Chairman of the Artists' Union of Armenia Karen Aghamyan told A1+. “Today, creative unions survive on membership dues, which is not the case in Armenia where artists live in terrible social conditions,” he said. Karen Aghamyan notes with regret that the Union is unable to support its members. “We can help them exhibit their works, but we cannot provide them material assistance," he said.
