Armenia leads its neighbours in World Press Freedom Index 2014

The International press freedom watchdog Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has issued the 2014 World Press Freedom Index where Armenia takes 78th position among 180 countries. The report says that Armenia is the leader in the region and the second among CIS countries in terms of press freedom. The position gives Armenia advantage over its regional neighbours - Georgia (84th), Azerbaijan (160th), Turkey (154th) and Iran (173rd). According to the Index, Moldova is the leading country (56th) among the CIS countries. The US and Russia come is 46th and 148th respectively. Armenia was 74th in the 2013 report among the 179 countries.
