In Baku, the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group discussed the withdrawal of snipers from the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair Igor Popov (Russia) said in Yerevan on February 5. “We have discussed the issue in Armenia as well,” he said. When asked about the next meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents, the OSCE mediator said, “To arrange the next meeting of the presidents, we need their consent, but we have not met the Armenian president yet. Naturally, we want the negotiations to be continued.” “In Azerbaijan, we discussed peaceful ways of resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict but everything depends on the conflicting sides,” said Co-Chair James Warlick. He added that they are trying their best to reduce tension and avoid conflict escalation. The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group visited Armenia in December 16.
