ARMENIAN-GREEK ECONOMIC RELATIONSHIP IN NEED TO BE ENHANCED

Economy

Third meeting of Armenian-Greek intergovernmental commission started on Thursday. Greek Deputy Foreign Minister and Armenian-Greek intergovernmental commission’s co-chair Andreas Loverdos noted that though relations between the two countries had activated throughout 2-3 years, economic ties are still in need to be improved.

“We are not satisfied with bilateral trade relationship, which makes a profit of only 11 millions USD”, he says. Greek side is willing to make investments, Mr. Loverdos said, however, without specifying when and how much.

Armenian Agriculture minister and the commission Armenian co-chair David Zadoyan, for his part, confirmed the fact that economic relationship between the two countries is far worse than political one. In his opinion, there is a ground for development of a number of economic spheres.

Mr. Zadoyan remembered about 250,000 USD aid given by Greeks during drought and 10,000 tons of millet and 3,000 tons of soil fertilisers pledge by them for 2003.
