ARMENIAN DIPLOMATS FALLEN INTO NEGLECT

Economy

Armenian MPs keep discussing the 2003 Budget Bill. Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan expressed his opinion about the bill at Thursday’s parliamentary session saying he unhappy about the fact that so little means were allocated to the Ministry by the budget. He said the ministry is in need of more funding to organise official visits.

Oskanyan said the new law on diplomats has unpleasantly surprised him, as it states the diplomats aren’t considered as civil employees. Under this law, the salary of the ministry’s state employees will comprise 120 USSD while non-state ones are to earn 30 to 40 USD monthly.

The minister urged lawmakers to find solution to this problem.
