ARTHUR BAGHDASARYAN COMES UP WITH NEW INITIATIVE
Support A1+!“Orinatz Erkir” parliamentary fraction submit Thursday a bill for the National Assembly consideration in a bid to put on legal ground the problems related to recovery, protection and reimbursement of Armenian citizens’ lost deposits. According to the bill worked out by the fraction leader Arthur Baghdasaryan, Armenian government should recognise the lost deposits, especially soviet-era ones, to be its internal debt and embark on step-by-step repayment.
Government spokesman Hayk Ayvazyan told Baghdasaryan that the latter hadn’t been given the government approval on the proposal. He also said there were 15 kinds of deposits and it wasn’t clear what one is to be reimbursed. Baghdasaryan says he offers to pay a 1,000-dollar compensation for each 10,000 roubles lost. It means the government should pay about one billion drams – the amount equal to Armenia’s external debt for the last decade. The parts decided to consider the issue in all its aspects and give it a proper solution.
