ARMENIA SELLS ITS “WINGS”
Support A1+! Supporters of “Zvartnots” Airport sale pave the way for selling other airports of Armenia . Anyway, standpoints are heard that Stepanavan’s and Shirak’s Airports might be transferred to a long term management if profitable conditions are suggested .
Discussion for “Development Prospects of Armenian Civil Aviation” held in the Armenian Centre for National and International Studies with participation of almost all the parts interested. The issue on “Zvartnots” Airport was dwelt on as expected. The pilots and those against “Zvartnots” privatisation were trying to prove by examples that Civil Aviation of Armenia incurred losses after “Zvartnots” had been transferred under managing bases . It was stated “Zvartnots” leaders have purchased about 8.803 tones of fuel from a company within 6 recent months and paid 90 $ more the established price per tone . Other facts of misuse were cited, as well. Artashes Bakhshyan, Councillor of Economics Department of Armenian president’s staff, tried to justify those making use of abuse. But the attempts to appraise half year’ work of airport leaders he considered as untimely. “Zvartnots” development program is still in elaboration phase and will be submitted for approval by December 9.
