MP ARSHAK SADOYAN: WE WILL BE INVOLVED IN LARGE-SCALE BRIBERY

Economy

Armenian Parliament completed today the discussion on the report of the parliamentary commission investigating government activity in the sphere of communication. The head of the commission Vazgen Manukyan insisted on stripping Armentel of its monopoly on communication and seizing a part of stocks from the company.

Minister of Transport and Communication Andranik Manukyan said Armentel wasn’t opposed to the idea to step down as monopolist in the area of the telecommunication’s cable network but at the same time didn’t intend to relinquish its sole control over cellular network.

Andranik Manukyan says the government isn’t able to divest Armentel of monopoly. MP Arshak Sadoyan cast doubt on the minister statement saying government does possess the means to root out Armentel’s monopoly and added "if the company isn’t stripped of its monopoly we all will be involved into a large-scale bribe-taking".
