THE UNSOLVED QUESTION OF IRAN-ARMENIA PIPE-LINE PROJECT IS THE COST OF GAS

Economy

During the official visit to Iran Robert Kocharyan sighned a memorandum between Armenia, Iran and Greece to begin the construction of Iran-Armenia pipe-line. But construction that costs 100 million dollars is not begun yet.

The most important unsolved question of the project is the gas cost. The cost considered by Iran is not profitable for Armenia.

The opportunity of exporting gas to Europe through Armenia is also being discussed. Greece participating in negotiations as a third party also presents the European Union.

Perhaps, Iran and Armenia will be included into the second pipe-line programme. Parties also discuss the opportunity of exporting Turmenian gas to Europe through Armenia.
